A Tokyo Collection Designer Selection

SOMARTA

The Japan Fashion Week, held from 30.August till 05.September, presented japanese designer fashion at different venues in Tokyo.

As other big cities, Tokyo is a melting pot of fashion. Under these hard circumstances, Tokyo brands are applying themselves diligently to their creations.
It is very difficult to pick up a brand which represents typical Tokyo fashion, because each of them have different sense & style.
But here, examples of three designer/brands conspicuously marked as the "fruity in season fashion", i.e. trendy Tokyo fashion.

SOMARTA

SOMARTA, Designer : Tamae Hirokawa
Theme : ENGRAVER - A fascinating mixture with the world of illusion and reality.
Main styles : Body suits with delicate knitting.
Winner of "MAINICHI FASHION TAISHO" (Award) this year.

mercibeaucoup, Designer : Eri Utsugi
Theme : The Star( a star knows everything - if people do good or bad things ....)
Be happy, merry, joyful, cheerful,... having a good time with everybody together!
Style : "Everything goes!" the designer states.

sunaokuwahara, Designer : Sunao Kuwahara
Theme : A satire on social problem.
In Japan well known Sunao graduated at Vantan Design College in 1979, joined Issey Miyake Design Studio in 1989. In 1994, he became chief designer of the I.S. brand, which became I.S.Sunao Kuwahara. Changed to A-net company in 1996 and sells his brand under the name sunaokuwahara.
